Frequently asked questions
Most popular
What is the Journey Pass?
A flexible 1, 2 or 3-day pass covering eight Lisbon experiences on one ticket: timed entry to Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, São Jorge Castle and Pena Palace, two small-group guided walks with licensed One Journey guides, an evening of Fado in Alfama and a golden-hour cruise on the Tagus. Booked separately those cost €215; the pass starts at €79.
When does my pass activate?
Your pass activates the first time you scan it at an experience, not when you buy it - that first redemption is day one. From that moment it runs for consecutive days - a 3-day pass covers three days in a row, not three visits spread across your trip. You have up to 12 months from the date of purchase to redeem that first experience, or the pass expires unused.
How many experiences can I do in one day?
As many as you can fit. There is no daily cap. The 1-day pass covers any four experiences from the catalogue; on the 2 and 3-day passes the full eight are open to you. See the sample itineraries for what a comfortable day looks like.
Is Pena Palace included on the 1-day pass?
No. Pena Palace in Sintra is included on the 2 and 3-day passes only - Sintra really needs the best part of a day, and the 1-day pass is built around central Lisbon.
Can I visit the same experience more than once?
Each experience on the pass is good for one visit. If you want to go back to a favourite, you are welcome to - you would just buy that entry at the gate.
What are the guided walks like?
Small groups, licensed One Journey guides, about two and a half hours on foot. The Belém and Alfama walks are exteriors only - your pass carries separate timed-entry tickets for going inside the monuments, so you can do both.
Buying & delivery
How do I get my pass after I buy it?
Three ways, and you choose at checkout: receive it instantly by email, have a physical pass delivered (we ship worldwide), or collect it on arrival in Lisbon.
Can I buy a pass once I am already in Lisbon?
Yes. Buy online and the digital pass lands in your inbox by email straight away, so you can be scanning it at Jerónimos within the hour.
Do children need their own pass?
Yes, at child prices: €39 for a 1-day pass, €65 for 2 days and €79 for 3 days. Child passes cover the same experiences as an adult pass of the same length.
Can I get a refund?
Yes - cancellation is free any time before your first experience is redeemed. Once your pass has been scanned at its first experience it is activated and becomes non-refundable, including for any experiences you have not yet used.
Which pass is the best value?
The 3-day pass. At €159 it covers the full €215 catalogue - a saving of over 25%, and the lowest price per day at €53. See the full price list.
Using your pass
Do I need to pre-book anything?
Most of the catalogue you simply turn up for and scan. Four things run to fixed times and need a slot reserved online or by email, ideally the day before: the Belém walk, the Alfama walk, the Fado evening and Pena Palace.
What do I do when I arrive at an experience?
Show your pass at the pass-holder entrance rather than queuing at the ticket office. The attendant scans it and you go in. For the walks and the Fado evening, your guide or the house has your name.
What language are the guided walks in?
The language of each departure is shown when you reserve your slot online, so you can pick one that suits you.
Is food or drink included with the Fado evening?
No. Your pass holds reserved seats at a traditional Alfama Fado house; food and drink are ordered and paid for on the night. The kitchens at these houses are good, and it is a fine place to eat.
What if an experience is closed on the day I planned to go?
Monuments close on public holidays and some close on Mondays, and river sailings depend on the weather. Opening times for the day you visit are on the website, and the One Journey concierge can help you shuffle your plan.
What happens if I lose my pass?
Your digital pass is sent by email - check your inbox or contact the team with your confirmation code and we will resend it. If you lost a physical pass, the same applies: reach out with your confirmation code and we will sort it out.
Guidebook & support
Is the guidebook really free?
Yes - every order comes with one free pocket guidebook, with all eight experiences, travel tips, a city map and a transport map. You can also have it emailed to you before you travel.
What languages is the guidebook in?
English, Português, Español, Français, Deutsch and Italiano.
How do I contact the team?
