Belém Tower

An iconic 16th-century fortified tower on the Tagus River, symbol of Portugal's Age of Discovery.

The Torre de Belém is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Lisbon's most recognizable landmarks. Built in the Manueline style, it once guarded the entrance to Lisbon's harbor and commemorates Vasco da Gama's expedition to India.
