How to ride Tram 28

  • Early morning: Board at Martim Moniz at 8am for a seat and peaceful ride through waking neighborhoods.
  • Midday: Hop off at Alfama or Graça to explore, have lunch, then catch the tram onward to Estrela.
  • Afternoon: Finish at Campo de Ourique for local cafés and shops, or ride back for a second perspective.

Before you go

  • Buy a Viva Viagem card from metro stations to save money and skip the onboard queue.
  • Go early (before 9am) or late (after 6pm) to avoid standing-room-only crowds.
  • Sit on the right side heading toward Alfama for the best views; left side toward Estrela.
